Yellowstone National Park

It was the day after the the Bozeman premiere of "Two Brothers and the Kings Share". We got up at 7am and Josh cooked a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast. Then we left the Battle Wagon, much to her chagrin, and headed to Yellowstone. Now with only one day to spend in Yellowstone, we had to have a plan so we could see as much as possible. Our strategy was to head straight for Old Faithful then go to the Grand Tetons stopping at pull offs along the way but only ones that looked really exciting and just for a quick picture.

Filmblazer Weekly Episode 7: Your Money's No Good Here

20:47 minutes (19.04 MB)

The first in our series of shorts comes episode number 7.  A quick and dirty 20 minutes covering all things San Francisco (yes we know San Fran was a while ago but bear with us, thats what the shorts are for, to get caught up, even though we recorded it weeks ago and it should have been posted already, and we already recorded the second short about Seattle, and that one isn't even edited yet, but I digress).

We cover the iPhone 3GS (again), the Olsen Twins, the Boxee Meetup, Adam's iPhone fail, and drunk Jamie gets a free

Albuquerque's Fortnight Film

"Bad Day at Zia Rock" is the long awaited Albuquerque Fortnight Film. This movie is perhaps one of our biggest collaborative efforts and most ambitious project yet. This space opera was made possible by the imaginations of Tony Anderson and DIego Romero who did all the composite work and 3D animation. With desert planets, golden alien cities, and spaceships, we really pushed the 2 week limit to have something to show. We allowed them to go back and retouch some of the effects and the final product just blew us away. I promise you it is worth the wait. Watch it here.

14 Animals We've Seen in the Wild

We've seen a lot of animals in the wild on this trip. Some we expected to see, like deer, but others we never expected, and even some we didn't know still lived outside captivity in the U.S. Each sighting came with a little story to add to our adventures:

Lotus Fire Belly Dancers

As soon as the Lotus Fire Belly Dancers arrived, albeit a little late, they were instantly forgiven for their tardiness because they looked awesome. All five dancers were dressed in elaborate costumes with flawless hair and makeup. I immediately felt fat and gross in my t-shirt and jeans, not to mention my perma-frazzled hair and pale makeup-less face that have become standard issue, especially on filming days (Don't hate...if you lived in an RV you too would eventually trade appearance for comfort).

Waterfalls and Josh Falls

After seeing Palisade Falls on our location scouting trip, we knew it had the potential for epic with it's big rocky cliffs and hints of green and purple behind the falls. With a small hike up, it wouldn't be too terrible to get our equipment up there and if we went early enough, it shouldn't be too crowded. So it was settled. We would film the lady in the water scene at the falls.

14 Benefits of a Smaller City

After San Francisco and Seattle, we just could not take another big city. Driving into Bozeman was a huge relief. We drove down Main St. and instantly felt the charm of a small town. Over the course of the two weeks we would learn just how much easier it is to coordinate and produce a short film in a city the size of Bozeman. Here are the biggest benefits we saw:

Behind the Scenes of "Thought Shifting"

See what went on behind the scenes as we ran all over the city making changes to the script, filming on roof tops, and trying to keep Josh out of the fetal position.

Zombies Take Bozeman

When we saw a flyer for the first ever "Zombie Walk" in Bozeman, I knew I was in trouble. Josh's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree at the idea of zombies taking over Main St. I could see the wheels in his head turning, trying to come up with a way to incorporate it into the movie, because, really, when else are you going to have 50+ zombies all in costume just wandering around.
